HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION TIPS

I love autumn season and this year especially as I need something special to look forward to, something that we can all celebrate regardless of the current pandemic situation.

It will be different halloween that we know but it is important to make it special not only for our sake but for the sake of our little munchkins.

I have decided that this year more then any other year I make effort to decorate more for the season and create a spooky halloween atmosphere.

Why not? We have been feeling down and anxious for long enough this year, why not forget about the current situation and make most of the little things.

Spooky Decor

Who doesn’t like a spooky, scary halloween decor to create the atmosphere? This might depends on the age of your child as you don’t want to scare the little ones off, but you can go mad with the pumpkin decor, there is never enough pumpkins around the house.

Get your kids to cut or help you cut out the pumpkins for the tea light.

There is so much choice in the shops for the season but you don’t have to go and spend lots of money on decor. There is nothing nicer for the kids then making a halloween decor at home. Get them to cut out spiders, to stick into the window or create a spider garland.

You can find a lot of ideas on Pinterest from spooky face masks, paper bat garland, paper plate spider, spooky slime, halloween painted rocks...

I can’t wait to start creating crafts with my daughter.

HALLOWEEN FOOD

As there isn’t going to be trick-or-treat this year, I decided to create some fancy halloween snack food for the family to put on the table. Kids love finger food and even more if it looks spooky and creative.

As I was researching the ideas for the finger food I found my favourite camembert cheese with stripes of pastry around to create mummie head and eyes made with olives, OMG that looks amazing i need to try it myself.

Another great one is to melt white chocolate or in our case caramac and dip a biscuit in leaving the tip only, once dry with choc sauce make eyes and mouth to create boo-scotti. yum

Creating the party atmosphere the kids will soon forget about trick-or-treating.

PARTY TIME

Make a plan ahead with your kids to make sure they get involved.

You can do movie night, little spooky Adams Family movie to watch or Hotel Pensilvania will do the job, depending on your kids age.

Food on the table, exiting time.

Family games, you can create a good family night in with a game for everyone to enjoy.

Music time, maybe bit of dancing. You can try some scary moves too, have fun thats all you need to do.

Depending on the weather where you are, why not create a cinema party in your garden. This is very popular for some and I like the idea too however weather here isn’t so exiting in October.

Have a Spooky Evening Walk

I love to have a walk in the evening.

You can get the kids to see if others have a nice halloween decor out. You can have a walk and each time they find a house with halloween decor, you can add into their bag a little treat.

They can still dress up into their spooky costumes.

I am looking forward to this time of the year, it is important that we focus on things that we can influence and have power to change rather then being overwhelmed with a situation that is out of our hand.

Focus on creating your home environment the most cosiest as it is where you spend most of your time right now and halloween is a great way of setting us off.

Lets not feel down that if we can’t trick-or-treat this year halloween isn’t the same. It can be better if we try a little harder this time. Kids will love that you are involved as a family.
